Infections of the ear in toodler

Has your little one ever had a ear infection, but you not know what was going on. Fever, irritability, pulling of the ear and still no answers. Even the "doctor" say nothing is wrong. Everything is fine. But you as a parent know something is wrong. Ironic right!

Well what do you know this has happened to me! My son is currently 3 years old and he has Tympanostomy tubes currently placed in his ears! The signs of something wrong with his ears started when he was one. I noticed the pulling and tugging of the ear and he wasn't speaking very much. He was making noises and things like that, but no mama and dada. Which I thought was strange, but kids develop at their own pace now a days! So I wasn't to stressed about it. We went to the doctor for his 2 year old check up, only this time I switched his doctor. Long and behold!! Ear infections in both in ears. Medication was given. Would come back to the doctor and the ear infections started taking sides. One week the right ear the next week the left ear. My poor baby!!! The medication was not working. Finally the doctor told me lets get a ENT to look at his ears. The ear infection was so bad they decided to put the Tympanostomy tubes in his ears on November 2015! Thank the Lord. No ear infections for about 6 months.

Fast forward the present day. May 2016, the ear infections started coming back again only in one ear.
The left ear. It was leaking and then a fever spiked.

The fever would come and go for a whole month off and on. The doctor continued to prescribed medication which of course wasn't working. And I wasn't seeing a pediatrician, I cut the middle man and went straight to the ENT. The Ent gave my baby shots in his leg every other day for a week hoping that it would knock the infection. It did NOT WORK! LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE THEY GAVE HIM!! So we headed to the operating room again! and got tubes placed in the left ear! The doctor told me that was so much puss and mucus blocked up in the ear and once the old tube was removed all of that squirted out of his ears. The ENT said that the ear should have hurt as much puss that was in the ear.

Now we are in December 2016 and we haven't had any more issues with his ears! That makes me so happy.

Moral of the study if you think something is going on with your child switch doctors. Get a second opinion. It wouldn't hurt when it is concerning your child well being!
