Teaching your toddler how to write!!

Have you ever had to teach some one how to write their letters?! I haven't either, but now I am doing it! OMG. so my son has moved up a class in daycare and they are writing or learning how to read. I'm so excited and nervous as well. So Monday 1/9/2017 he came home with home work talking about writing letters and reading. I was like he is to young for this. He wont understand, but he fouled me. We sat down and I pulled out the dry erase board he would trace the letters. of course they aren't perfect, but he was doing it. So I was like wow maybe it isn't to early especially if they are learning it at school.
So the school sends homework home every week over the letters they are working on in class and they are learning how to write their name as well. My son is the youngest in the class. He turns 4 in September 2018, where as the students in the class turn 4 in March/April. So they are supposed to do the work sheets and then turn the homework in every Thursday to get credit for doing it. I guess if the teacher can see them practicing at home, they can see what they need help with in class. So I'm excited because we are still dealing with speech and talking and I feel that writing is just moving him way to fast because he is not even having a regular conversation. He is trying though and his talking has improved a lot. I don't know guess this mommy is just worried. I am encouraging him though despite my feelings towards it.
So this is what we do at home.
  1. We write on a dry erase alphabet board. Each letter every night.
  2. We have a leap frog alphabet https://www.bing.com/images/shop/search?view=detailv2&q=vtech%20alphabet%20write%20and%20erase&id=6A928B7707FCC8990A45A834C20B4B04708920E5&ccid=eu9kW2m+&simid=608023682285503012&selectedIndex=1&form=IMGSHP&mode=serp
  3. And we are reading books every night. I was reading him the same book every night because it was his favorite. Now I read the books I want and make him lay down while I am reading them. Even though he isn't engaged with me reading he is listening to me. Which will help him as well.

Today I actually went to Dollar Tree they have little activity books were they child can do for each letter. I bought 2 of them. they were only 2 dollars. And I went to target looking for more books to help with writing but I found one on first words. Which would help him with talking because it is first words and they are putting the words into sentences. So hopefully that will help him. I am looking for a big pencil though. Like I swear all this stuff was able to be found when I was young. Now it seems that everything is electronically and you cant find nothing for kids to do hands on. Its crazy.

I will be researching more things to do to help our little toddlers right. If you want to get affordable things try the dollar store and target. All the little books I bought today were only a dollar. Or you can print out work sheets and have them laminated and get your child to writing and you can use them over and over. Especially if you several little people.

Hopefully this will help!!
